On April 9, Waypoint member Bella Parrot will be joining the crew of a ship called Logos Hope for the three months in the Caribbean. I sat down with Bella to hear about her the mission and how we can be praying for her.
First of all, for those who don’t know you, tell us a little about yourself:
I was born in Kenya, and my mom and I moved to Durham and started going to Waypoint in 2021. I graduated from Jordan High School in 2023. I love travel, music, and church.
What is Operation Mobilization and what do they do?
They want to spread the good news and encourage others to turn their lives towards Christ. The OM ships also have a large library that has books that the people who visit might not be able to find elsewhere. They also serve the communities where they port by serving in various ways. (You can learn more here: https://www.om.org/eng/ships)
What will you be doing?
I’ll be a part of the Logos Hope ship from early April till late July serving and making sure the ship runs smoothly. I will start in Curacao and end in Kingston, Jamaica.
How did you decide to go?
After a small group of people from Waypoint went, Pastor Danny told me about it and thought I might like going. I checked into it and thought it was a good fit: I always wanted to go to Caribbean, I like traveling and meeting people from around the world, I like serving others, and I want to share the Good News about Jesus.
What are you most looking forward to?
Meeting people I work with, making memories, and seeing different countries.
How can we pray for you?
Pray that I’m able to help out where needed and that I can make an impact.
