Praying for My Sabbatical

Dear Waypoint family,

Starting June 5 until August 6 I will take my sabbatical. Waypoint grants a 2-month sabbatical to full-time pastors after seven years of service. Our staff policy manual says sabbatical leave is for the purpose of renewal, refreshment, and self-study. I am grateful for this opportunity and wanted to share some of my desires and goals for this time so that y’all can be praying for me!

-Spend time praying and reflecting on the past seven years and looking ahead to the next seven

-Get good family time

-Spend time in Biblical meditation and self-reflection by practicing some of the inner spiritual disciplines

-Study God as Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

-Worship at other local churches on Sunday mornings

-Travel to Malaysia to spend time with the Wieners and be the body of Christ there

-Visit (and revisit) the stack of books on my shelf

-Play some Mario games

-Keep playing ping pong with my sons and really learn pickleball

-Do some house projects I have been putting off

-Learn Japanese and how to play the piano (just kidding)

-Thank people who have encouraged, developed, and ministered to me along my spiritual journey with phone calls or letters

-Pray for Waypoint and the local and global Church

-Getaway for a week with Erika to celebrate 23 years of marriage

I am sure there are more things I will think of and do, but this list is enough and each thing on here really excites me.

Thanks for all the encouragement and support all of you have given me over the years. I am so thankful for the body of believers at Waypoint. It is a joy and privilege to serve alongside you!

This is my prayer for me and for all of us from Philippians 1:

“That our love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 1so that we may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.”

Thanks for your prayers!

Danny
