YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY DIRECTOR

Melody was born and raised outside of Richmond, VA. She came to know and love the Lord in the Assemblies of God church where her dad pastored and moved to Durham to begin graduate school in the fall of 2022 and began attending Waypoint shortly after, becoming a member in 2023.

 

After traveling to Ethiopia, her brother’s home country, as a high schooler, Melody developed an interest in entrepreneurship as a platform for ministry. She then graduated from Lee University in Cleveland, TN in 2022 with a B.S. in Finance and a Religious Studies minor. Currently, she is in her final year of the Master of Divinity program at Duke Divinity School. While living in Durham, Melody has served as a chaplain intern at Hinton Rural Life Center in Hayesville, NC and as a community life intern at Reality Ministries in Durham. Most recently, Melody served as a ministry intern at Waypoint during the Summer of 2024, and continues to serve on staff as the Young Adult Director. 

 

Though her current primary hobby is studying out of necessity, you may also find her (with Nalgene in hand, of course) shoveling mulch at Duke Gardens, cooking up a new recipe, playing tennis or pickle ball against competitors above her skill level, or showing strangers pictures of her newborn niece (shout-out to Emerson!).
